2014 Principal’s report

“Never touch anything with half your heart, be present, endlessly loving and compassionate towards others. …. “

We, at Wiggles, are so fortunate to bear witness to all the significant achievements our children make every day, no matter how seemingly small. They are always putting their best foot forward to improve on a task, working hard to get it right. Wiggles is a place of emotional fulfilment for both adults and children alike, a happy space with an abundance of positivity and love. This feeling always filters through to the children – from those entering their teenage years, to the younger ones beginning their educational adventure.

We strive to offer the children the breadth of experiences and opportunity that they are entitled to, and in return, they demonstrate that this is exactly what they desire: to explore, feel, listen, absorb, learn, experiment, and master. Even if they cannot put what they have experienced at school into words when they get home, we hope that their enthusiasm to come to school day after day is an indication that Wiggles is the place to be, filled with friends and new things to learn.

We always strive to offer the children the breadth of experiences and a wide variety of opportunities, and in return, they demonstrate that this is exactly what they desire: to explore, feel, listen, absorb, learn, experiment, and master. 2014 has been a year of the most phenomenal growth in our children – we have seen non-walkers stand up and take their first steps, non-verbal children start to vocalise, and children start reading and blending letters and words. With these achievements develops a confidence and independent spirit that spans our school community – having every child ready to take on just about any challenge.

Our school concert highlighted just how much our children have achieved over the course of the year. Their participation far outweighed previous years’ concerts. The enjoyment and learning that took place reflected in the children’s performances so beautifully on the day. Our hope is always to showcase the children’s developing confidence, emerging abilities across the classes. and that they have fun putting the pieces together to achieve a common goal. Thank you to the staff for their time and planning, and to our children for making it happen on the day.

Our annual fundraisers this year have been well attended and brought in much-needed funds to the school. The fundraisers and generous donations we receive, subsidise the monthly expenses incurred in the operational costs of the school. We operate on a very tight budget, with school fees only really covering staff salaries. The fundraisers and donations cover the 25-30% annual financial operational deficit we experience which is why we are so grateful when our parents, family and friends come together to assist us in raising these much-needed funds. A very special Wiggles thank you to the sponsors who help subsidise children’s fees and support us at every fundraiser, thank you for making a real difference to the children and our school – we simply would not manage without you!

Thank you to our families, children and friends for another amazing year, the abundance of support, love and enthusiasm has helped Wiggles and Squiggles take another significant step towards our future dreams and aspirations for both our children and Wiggles and Squiggles.

Keep a look out for our new logos and name change, we are beginning our process of adopting our more mature Wandsworth name so don’t be surprised when you start to see Wiggles trading as Wandsworth School or if you hear a "Good Morning, Wandsworth School" over the phone—its still us Wigglers, offering the same quality service you are used to, with even more love and passion for embracing your special needs child.
